Cesar Chavez Commemorative Virtual Activity Challenge
February 7 - March 31, 2022
Welcome to the Cesar Chavez Commemorative Virtual Activity Challenge, sponsored by the UCOP Latino Staff Association (LaSA). This event remembers and honors Cesar Chavez leading farmworkers on a peaceful 300-mile march from Delano to Sacramento to raise awareness of the farmworkers' plight.
Proceeds from this event will go to the LaSA scholarship fund benefitting UC Latinx students.
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1: Choose your option: Individual or team event. Each team should come up with a team name. If you are unable to walk/run/hike/bike, please consider doing the 30 activity challenge.
These categories symbolize the 300 miles that Chavez and other farmworkers marched. We are striving to make the activities accessible to people at all levels of ability. Please let us know if you require an accommodation to participate by emailing [email protected]
Step 2: Register and make a voluntary donation ($30 suggested) for individual or team for the virtual 3 mile/30 activity/300 mile challenge. Send via Venmo to @UCOPLASA. The event will take place from February 7- March 31, 2022. Register here.
Step 3: Track your progress and report it by March 31 using this tracking form. The Excel form has three tabs: One for individual mileage, one for team mileage, and one for non-mileage-based activities. Email the form and any photos you may have taken to
[email protected].

- Complete control over your schedule. Complete the challenge on your own time, wherever you want.
- To get moving. According to scientists, moving provides long-term, life benefits (social, mental, and physical).
- Connect virtually (or masked and practicing social distancing protocols) with other active-minded individuals also working to achieve their challenge goal.
